• Resident of New York City.
• Work experience that reflects an innovative perspective on the most serious problems affecting the daily lives of low-income children and the changes in services they need.
• Deep connections with community stakeholders and supportive networks in the setting of current work (or the one in which this project’s activities are to be carried out).
• Experience working with advocacy coalitions and the media to bring about social changes will be welcomed.
• Applicants should anticipate beginning their Fellowship project no later than one month after receiving the Fellowship. He or she may choose to work with or without a host organization. If the applicant intends to work with a host organization, its support-- including the use of office facilities, i.e., desk space, photo copies, etc.-- must be secured before submitting a proposal. Individuals currently receiving wages or a salary from the intended host organization for the proposed project must disclose the amounts of these wages or salary as well as the amounts of the grants or other funds they are applying for from any other sources.

Applicants must demonstrate that their Fellowship project does not replicate the activities of any other known program or project. Fellowship awards cannot be used to supplant or enhance funding activities or projects that are already being implemented by the intended host organization. Ongoing research projects and scholarly work will not be considered for Fellowships.
